Celebrating A Moped Life In A Chopper World

Comparison isn’t just a bad idea, it’s completely debilitating. When we compare ourselves to others or even to our past self, we want to look better, but we just end up being bitter. In the Bible, God says, I have plans for you, not HAD plans for you, but HAVE! Let’s punch a hole in the lie that comparing is constructive and let’s talk about what we SHOULD be doing.

The Moped

Let’s consider the moped. In Europe, the moped is celebrated. It gets great gas mileage. We would all want one if we were paying eight dollars per gallon of gas like they do in Europe. It fits into small parking spaces and can squeeze between cars in traffic jams. It is less expensive to purchase which is useful in ANY country where the hourly wage is lower or the currency doesn’t stretch very far (including the United States).

The Chopper

Ahhhhhhhh, then we have the chopper. When I get on that motorcycle I hear songs like, “Life is a Highway” and “Bad to the Bone” going through my head. I feel BAD (in a good way)! It just makes me feel good and it makes my flesh happy. But comparing it to a moped really isn’t fair. They have entirely different purposes.

Purpose Is Why Comparisons Don’t Work

Comparing a moped to a chopper is like comparing a Porsche to a bulldozer. It’s completely unfair. They have different purposes, are operated under different conditions, and with different expectations. Depending on whether the car or construction equipment is setting the standard one will always have the advantage over the other. The bible says, that it is NOT WISE to compare ourselves to ourselves or to others. (2 Corinthians 10:12) The difference is in our purpose.

Your Prosperity Is In YOUR Purpose, Not Someone Else’s

When we find our purpose we find our prosperity. When we live within our purpose we win. We don’t figure out our purpose by comparing ourselves to others. They have their purpose and we have ours. The moped would never feel valued if it were always compared to the chopper. We have to stop doing that to ourselves.

Celebrate The Moped Life

If you live a moped life then celebrate that! God gives each of us a unique purpose. What He says about us is that we are to have health and wholeness and that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. We have a unique imprint and thumbprint to make the world a better place. Join me in celebrating who God has called you to be today.
