There is a bridge in London that is over one hundred years old. People are not allowed to drive vehicles over a certain height and weight across the bridge. These rules are required for bridge safety. These rules protect the bridge and keep it from slowly being stressed over time to where it weakens and collapses. We need to post rules for how we want to be treated otherwise our relationship bridges will get stressed and collapse.

Clear Communication Builds Bridges

When we get insecure, we should say, “It makes me feel like “this” when you do “this”. State exactly when the situation happened. State the behavior. State how it made you feel. This removes the ambiguity and makes it feel less like an attack. It explains instead of blaming. It is the beginning of building a bridge.

The Rules Pave The Way To Relationship

Lord, we decree and declare that we will be clear about the rules for crossing our bridge. Likewise, we will be careful with our words and use them less for burning and more for building. Thank YOU that you are the only perfect one. We are made perfect through your performance on our behalf. Amen!
