I think we all have giants to face, and we all have pits to deal with, but this guy takes on both of them head on. His example is one of courage that we should consider as we face the fear of our next giant or get discouraged by the next pit. Check out his story (it’s slightly paraphrased).

A valiant fighter named Ben performed great exploits. He struck down Moab’s two mightiest warriors, struck down an Egyptian the size of a giant by using the giants own weapon against him and also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion. (1 Chronicles 11:22-23)

We Must Face The Thing We Fear With Courage

Did you catch that last part? This guy climbed down into a pit and went after a lion that wasn’t even after HIM. Courage does that. Courage prevails. Courage grows. Our main goal needs to be to trust God and to resist fear. We need to walk through the risk with courage and climb down into that pit on a snowy day. Are you cringing before an opportunity that seems too big for you?

We All Have Obstacles Trying To Stop Us From Taking Our Opportunity

All it takes is one opportunity to open doors of which we’ve never dreamed. Right before I went on to share my first message on TBN, all hell broke loose. There were all kinds of things going on with the staff and back at the church and everything was focused on trying to keep me from climbing down into that pit on a snowy day to speak to the world. I pushed through and did it. Overcoming those obstacles and pressing through opened up the door for me to be a guest on TBN many more times.

God Has A Plan And He Will Deal With Our Obstacles

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. (Psalm 23:5)

Sometimes in the middle of my enemies, God has prepared a table. God has prepared a table of breakthrough to reach the world, and He’s doing fantastic things! The table was spread IN THE PRESENCE of my enemies, but I had to go down into that pit on a snowy day first. Don’t waste time lamenting over past failures. Go after your goals and don’t let the obstacles stop you!
