If Eve had engaged the information instead of believing the lie that there was something better out there, we’d be in paradise today. We would be a very fit population if we were to engage the information that would result in six-pack abs. If drug users were to engage the information in their head that says, this could kill you; they would stop using drugs. We have the information, but we don’t have the willpower to engage the information.

A Grateful Mindset Doesn’t Compare

Eve was in the Garden of Eden. She could have focused on the beauty and lush abundance of the garden, the awesome gifts from God and the reward and privilege of God’s companionship. Eve chose to focus on what she didn’t have; she focused on the one tree she was not supposed to touch. Thinking about what we don’t have creates disillusionment and emptiness. Being grateful and looking at what we do have creates fullness. We need to stop comparing and remove any foothold for the enemy by staying grateful.

Start Being Kind To Yourself

I write this expecting that you will forgive yourself today. If there is anything that you are punishing yourself for – forgive yourself. We need to stop the hatred. So many people don’t like or even hate themselves. How can we be kind to others if we aren’t kind to ourselves? How we view ourselves spills over in how we treat other people. Do you smoke or drink alcohol? Don’t let that keep you from God. Pick up your Bible and start reading it while you’re doing it. God loves you RIGHT.WHERE.YOU.ARE.

Be Encouraged

Repeat after me: “God, I know you have good plans for me, plans to prosper me, not to harm me, plans to give me a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). I want to maximize 2017, so I am reading your word, and I want to hear from you.”

Father, I pray for your church that we would be strong and have the passion for doing what you’ve called us to do without dragging 2016 into 2017. Lord, we come to you to get confidence in you and to receive your protection. Amen!
