What if you told God that you were making too much money to give him the first ten percent? I heard a joke once where a man admitted something like that to his pastor. His pastor started to pray, “Lord, we thank you for all you have done for this man and we know he is struggling. Please reduce his income to an amount where he would be comfortable giving back to you what is yours.” He jumped back and said, “Stop that!” None of us wants that to happen, but it makes sense.
When You Honor God, God Honors You
God puts his super on your natural, and you make supernatural progress. A friend of mine was a tither and was blessed with abundance. Then he decided ten percent was too much to give to God and his business started going downhill. A man who was a tither (doesn’t live in this state or go to this church) offered to buy my friend’s company. I was so sad that my friend just didn’t have the information to stay on track.
My Responsibility
God has gotten on to me about not doing a solid job of teaching you all how to honor him. My friend didn’t have the revelation he needed because I don’t talk about it enough. I don’t like the heat and pressure that comes along with it. When I preach about tithing, the tithers say, “Oh yeah! Remind me about how I’m blessed when I come in and blessed when I go out.” And the other people say, “Hey, you just want my money.”
What Is The Real Issue?
Tithers have no problem with the subject, the non-tithers do. I love you, and I don’t want you to leave the church. You’ve been coming for years. And whether you stay in our church and choose not to bless God or go to another church and choose not to bless God, he still loves you. God is making me talk about this because there is a bigger issue at hand. Stay tuned to hear more in tomorrow’s blog.
Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the first and best part of all your income. (Proverbs 3:9)
