Someone who needs to have everything figured out will never step up and do anything courageous. People who do courageous things allow their heart to dictate the movement of their lives. It’s not that they always fully understand why they feel courage, but they are consistent enough to make following their heart priority over following their head.

For example, following God is a heart thing, not a head thing. So hearing from him comes from your heart, not your head. This is important because you can’t rationalize what He shows you in your heart.

God even explains in Isaiah 55:8, “His Thoughts And Ways Are Higher Than Ours, Beyond Anything We Can Imagine”. If we can’t imagine it, then we can’t rationalize it, which means we can’t just use our head.

Feelings and emotions are a temporary circumstance, they change every 5 minutes, based on what’s going on around us. Not based on the consistency in your heart. I’d like to encourage you to follow your heart today, over your emotions or your feelings.

I read a book a few years ago entitled, Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. The whole premise of this book is following that instantaneous gut feeling that you have on every decision. He has some pretty elaborate detailed stories of decisions that have been made throughout history that were either wrong or right based on people’s “Blink”. It’s amazing how even secular books have tapped into the genetic God-given decision-maker. The more you look towards God, the more receptive you will be to the “Blink” that he has placed in you. I have found over the years that you can’t go wrong following your heart.

The bible says, “Trust In The Lord With All Your Heart, And Lean Not On Your Own Understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

Use your heart, follow your “Blink” and God will lead you down the right path. Should you misperceive and get off path, he will kindly guide you back onto it, as long as you don’t rationalize and just keep listening to the “Blink” inside of you. He’s guiding and talking, the question is are you rationalizing or responding? Follow your heart!
