God talks to his people in endlessly creative ways. He works through us and performs miracles around us in equally unique approaches. There may be 256 denominations in America but I believe if we go up our tag will fall off and if we go down it will burn off. We all talk to God, no matter the denomination.

Prayer Limits

The enemy wants to limit our ability to pray because it limits him when we pray. Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven (Matthew 18:18). The enemy wants you to believe prayer doesn’t work, for you to not have time for it, and for prayer to be your last resort.

We Pray From The Heart

Prayer is a conversation with God. Would you enjoy a conversation with a friend if they read the same script over and over and didn’t act like they wanted to be there? Or would you prefer that they speak from the heart about something they feel passionate about? God prefers our authentic self. When we fake it, he knows it and is not moved.

We Don’t Pray Because We Feel Condemned

God is love and says the following:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11).

When you call out to me and come to me in prayer, I will hear your prayers (Jeremiah 29:12).

Our God wants us to know him the way he knows us. And he reveals that to us over time and through ongoing conversation with him. The more we talk to God, the less we hear the enemy (or inner-me).

Be Encouraged

Lord, help my friends to see that things change on the inside before they change on the outside. We do not judge, but we love one another. We talk to you and drown out the enemy’s voice, and we pray to loose the resources of heaven. Amen!
