Pastor David Crank - Put Down The PhoneI have developed a habit of picking up my phone and checking the texts first thing in the morning. And since I have my phone in my hand, I go ahead and look at Instagram and Twitter. The next thing you know there’s hardly any time to focus on God, listen in my spirit, or to read the bible or other inspirational books.

So today when I woke up, the Lord spoke to me and said, “Put the phone down.

I had it in my hand and He said, “I want you, for the next three days to ‘fast’ all social media and have your team post things that you’ve said previously so that your followers can still know that you haven’t fallen off of the radar.”

But as far as YOUR EYES don’t even look at it. For three days, you’re going to FOCUS ON ME, you’re going to have greater clarity and I’m going to feel like I’m your priority.

If you think about it, when I go on a date with Nicole, we both have our phones, she’s on hers, I’m on mine and we’re not really on a date with each other, we’re on a date with our phones. Somebody texts and I look over and she’s smiling because someone texted her something that made her smile. I didn’t bring the smile to her face, somebody else did.

Phones and smart phones are great, but how smart are they?

Maybe it’s the dumbest thing we’ve ever done, to NOT set the phone aside, make God a priority and make the PEOPLE a priority who are in the room with us.
