For those who are familiar with U.S. currency, they would recognize a counterfeit $19 bill. The reason why is that there is no real $19 bill. In order to counterfeit something, there must be a real one in existence in the first place. Nefarious people will counterfeit $20 bills instead. We might not recognize one of those, but someone who looks at $20 bills everyday will. The more we get to know the real thing, the more we will recognize a fake when it is presented to us. God’s Word is the real thing. Do we study God’s word to recognize the counterfeit messages that come through our life?
The Law of Attraction is the counterfeit to Proverbs 23:7
The Law of Attraction basically says that whatever we think about is what we draw to ourselves. If we think negatively, then negative things come to us. The same applies to thinking positively. In the bible it says, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7)
Who do we agree with more, God or the enemy (inner-me)?
This guy in the bible, Job, he was rich in all things. He loved and obeyed God, but he began to worry and give his offerings in fear instead of faith. He lost it all. God didn’t cause it, He permitted it. He does all he can to redeem and save us, but sometimes we step out of faith and into fear, and we agree more with the enemy than with God.
(Spoiler alert: Just so you don’t get depressed, at the end of the story, God restored double what Job had originally, in finances, assets, family, everything.)
Seeing the Truth through the Counterfeit
If we live with the mindset that God is mad at us, or that God is going to “get us” then everything in our life will reflect that. It will fill our heart, enter our thoughts, come out of our mouth and show in our actions. We will always operate from a position of fear.
We need to approach God with the mindset “God is glad, He’s not mad. He loves me, and he’s working on my condition. Positionally, I am right with God through the Cross, even though sometimes I don’t act right.”
Use the following Truths as a measuring stick against counterfeit messages.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)
“I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (Philippians 1:6)
Go out today KNOWING that God is FOR US and not against us and because of that, there is nothing we should fear. (Romans 8:31, Hebrews 13:6)
