One of the challenges that Pastors have is the pressure of speaking for God or feeling we need to. Meaning we don’t have to interpret, we need to say what He says and He’ll take care of the rest.
Perspective Can Change Our Life
A woman came up to me a few years ago who doesn’t even realize she changed my life with her story. This little woman came up to me at our previous location in Fenton, Missouri. She stopped me one day to ask me to pray for her. Here is her story, “The doctors say I have a terminal disease and I will die soon, but I want you to pray for me.”
Here Is An Example Of Praying God’s Word Over A Healing Situation
So I pray with her and I say:
“Father, we come to you right now in the name of Jesus, just me and my little sister. God, you said that whatever we ask the Father in the name of Jesus, you would give it to us. So God, we are asking you. We are not begging you right now; we are asking that you would heal her and make her whole.
Psalms 107:20 says, “You sent your Word and it healed them and delivered them from all their transgressions.” God, we thank you also that in Isaiah 53:5 says, “You were wounded for our transgressions, and by your stripes we are healed.” We don’t have to get it; we are not waiting on the manifestation. Lord we are just praising you right now that you earned it for us, and we believe and we receive when we pray, in Jesus’ name.”
She said, “I KNEW IT! YOU are MY new Pastor.” I said, “What do you mean?”
How We Pray Makes All The Difference
She said, “I have had the sweetest pastor for about 30 years, but when I asked him to pray for me the other day, this is what he said, ‘Lord if it be your will. God, we never know what you are going to do. Maybe you are going to get glory out of this God, but…'”
As Pastors, We Think The Pressure Is On Us, When Actually It’s On God
I know what it is like to be a Pastor and to be praying a prayer saying, “God, I hope she gets healed because if she does not, her whole family is going to think you’re a liar.”
We think God needs defending or protecting. But God told me, “When you pray, do not put any clauses in my contract concerning what I may or may not do. I’ve got this thing handled, you say what I said and do not deviate. I said she is healed, I didn’t she is going to be healed.”
This Message Is For EVERYONE
We need to speak God’s Word over our live. The Word of God has as much authority and power coming out of our mouths as it does coming out of Gods. By not using it, we are doing ourselves an injustice. Using our own words is like trying to power a car with a hamster in the engine compartment. We need to put a Hemi V-8 engine into the words that we speak by using God’s Word in all areas of our lives! Let’s start today!
