We hear the message at times, “This is a test, this is only a test.” The idea is that we aren’t to take action regarding the action or message following that statement, such as for tornado drills or fire alarms. When we hear the word test, many of us become anxious. We are programmed to view testing as a fearful thing, yet, it is only a tool to measure movement in the right direction.

Is The Scale A Test Or A Tool? Tests Are Also Tools

We would fear the scale less if we were doing something to get it moving in the direction we desire. We SAY we want to lose weight, but we don’t do things consistently to move us in that direction. When the test comes, and we step on the scale, we fear the result. The balanced steps we need to take to get the results we want will help us to grow, and then the scale becomes, just a tool, or just a test.

God Tests Us To Bless Us

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” (James 1:2)

God doesn’t test us with sickness or disease. Remember, the thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10) God uses temptation, testing and trial, don’t fear them. God has given us the tools we need to overcome.

Where Is Your Heart?

Testing shows where our heart is because we can’t serve God and other activities, things or money. He needs to know if He is first. Abraham was tested.

But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham! So he said, “Here I am.” And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me. (Genesis 22:11-12)

What Would You Give Up?

Today, I encourage you to think about what is important in your life. Would you be willing to walk away from it or give it up if God asked you to?
