Adam and Eve lived in a beautiful garden. God told them not to touch the tree in the middle of the garden because it was HIS tree. He told them they could have everything else but that one. God wanted to know if they loved him. How do we react when we are told, “That’s nachos…not-chyose…not yos. That’s-NOT-YOURS.” The fact is that we want what we can’t have, and we do what we are told not to do.
Is It Love Or Lust?
Have you ever found out that someone didn’t really love you for who you are but for what you do for them? God wanted to know if they loved HIM or if they lusted after the world. God created man from dust and breathed life into him (Genesis 2:6) He is our creator and he loves his creation. But he wants to be loved in return.
Greedy Gardeners
Instead of focusing on what she could have, Eve focused on what was forbidden. She listened to the enemy that convinced her that God was keeping something good from her. In reality, God was trying to save her from the curse she received when she disobeyed, and that was death.
We Live In A Nachos System Where We Want What’s Not Ours
We buy things we can’t afford; we want what we can’t have, and we get caught up in the world’s system of greed. We miss the fact that God’s system protects us from the traps that world’s system creates.
Be Encouraged!
Lord we ask you to make us sensitive to your desire to be pursued and to be chosen. We want to bless you and show you our commitment to you. We are focused on all that you have given us and we are thankful for your companionship, your friendship, your love and mercy. We honor you by putting you first. Amen!
