It is so easy to stay busy and claim that we have no time when we are the ones who set our schedules. We AGREE with the busy lifestyle by continuing to be too busy for the things that truly matter in life. Mary was at the Lord’s feet (focusing on him) while Martha was distracted by preparations (too busy doing things FOR the Lord instead of being WITH the Lord). (Luke 10:39-40 paraphrased).

What Matters In The Big Picture?

Being self-absorbed is a sense of pride, and sometimes we blow things out of proportion. Jesus said to Martha, “You are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Jesus was telling Martha that she was missing the big picture and focusing too much on things that don’t matter in the long run.

There’s Only So Much Time

Would you stay busy and ignore Jesus if he were in your home? No? It is what we do every day when we get up too late to spend time with him, are too busy all day and then are too tired at night. Things that matter in 2015, won’t likely matter in 2020. When are we going to focus on what matters?

Be Encouraged

I’d like to encourage you to choose the best part. Choose to spend time with Jesus. Choose to spend time with family and close friends. Choose to see the best in others. Choose to focus on the best parts. Lord, we choose you and the things that are important in the big picture. We choose family first. We make time for you. We press forward focusing on all that is good in those closest to us. Amen!
