“Do all things without complaining and disputing” (Philippians 2:14). It can be amazing how much we complain. The teenager says, “Mom won’t let me do anything.” Mom says, “My teenager never does anything.” Dad works all day, comes home and complains, “No one ever does anything!” We always find something a way to blame or complain.
I Have A Problem With Complaining
I got up in the middle of the night and stepped on a wet gift that our two-pound dog, Luppy, left on the floor. God KNOWS ME. He asked me if I was going to get rid of the dog and, of course, the answer was no. God told me NOT to hassle his daughter (my wife, Nicole) the next day about this incident. When the dog is bad, it’s her dog, and when the dog is good, it’s my dog. God told me to leave my wife alone and stop blaming. In fact, he told me I have a problem with complaining.
Complaining Is Finding Fault, Wisdom Is Finding Solutions
The complainer is always looking for someone to complain. I believe in having a 5-Star church, but I have used that as an excuse at times to find every little thing that’s wrong. We need to focus on and praise the behaviors we want to be repeated. I know praise Luppy every time she gets NEAR the potty pad. Philippians 2:14 says DO ALL THINGS without complaining. That means ALL THINGS.
The Positive Focus Shines A Light That Pierces The Darkness Of Complaining
Lord, it is so easy to focus on the negative, to focus on what we don’t have and to forget all that you’ve done for us. Help us to take a daily inventory of all that is going right in our lives and the behaviors of others. Help us to come to you with praise and thankfulness instead of complaints. Lord, thank you for your patience. We commit to complain and remain OR praise and get a raise. AMEN!
