We need to post rules for how we want to be treated otherwise our relationship bridges will get stressed and collapse.
Don’t Talk About Politics Or Religion
The quickest way to burn bridges with anyone is to talk politics. We tend to forget that the discussion is full of opinions. We can’t allow individual opinions to burn bridges between us. Opinions are not truth, and the main truth we should be concerned about is that Christ built a bridge for us to spend eternity with God.
Clear Communication Builds Bridges
When we get insecure, we should say, “It makes me feel like “this” when you do “this”. State exactly when the situation happened. State the behavior. State how it made you feel. This removes the ambiguity and makes it feel less like an attack. It explains instead of blaming. It is the beginning of building a bridge.
The Rules Pave The Way To Relationship
Lord, we decree and declare that we will be clear about the rules for crossing our bridge. Likewise, we will be careful with our words and use them less for burning and more for building. Thank YOU that you are the only perfect one. We are made perfect through your performance on our behalf. Amen!
