We tend to get comfortable with the things that are regularly available to us. From groceries to a roof over our head, to family members who are around us, this is our comfort zone. In Joshua 5, the people were comfortable with the God’s provision of manna on a daily basis. The manna stopped when God was ready to move them to the next level.

From What Is It? To Where Is It? Mentality

When the people first saw the manna, they probably thought, “What is that?” As they grew accustomed to it, manna became the norm. Then it stopped, and they wondered, “Where is it?” It happens to all of us. God wants to move us out of our comfort zone and to the next level. We depend on that job more than the God who provided it. We become supply dependent and forget about the supplier. God will switch things up, but He always provides.

Provision For The Vision

We get uncomfortable when the supply we were accustomed to comes to a halt. However, God wants us to walk in faith. We have to learn the laws of spiritual farming (tithing and giving) or we’re going to starve. God wants to break the cycle of poverty mentality among us.

Be Encouraged

Lord, we consider your provision every day. Manna was food to survive, but you want us to thrive! We are breaking the cycle of low-level thinking. We are stronger than we think we are. We know that you are able to do exceedingly abundantly more than we ask or can imagine, according to your power that is at work within us (Ephesians 3:20). Amen!
