For us to be successful, we need to do something that we love to do. I love preaching, but there are a lot of things I don’t like doing. We aren’t going to like doing certain parts of our dream. One thing we must do is stay focused on the big picture and the positive things that we want so that we can put up with the pain.
There’s Significance In Focus
“Let your eyes look directly forward and your gaze be straight before me.” (Proverbs 4:25)
I see organizational leaders get mission drift, and they become unfocused. This can happen between husbands and wives and in families. They have a great idea in the middle of the night and then in the light of day, it makes no sense. It happens. Preachers can get excited about going on television or creating a multi-site church but within a year neither still exists. In your family, do you have a lot of ideas that you initiate, use resources then realize you don’t have the longevity to follow through?
Make Sure It’s Not Just A Good Idea But A God Idea
When we, Faith Church, go in a direction, we make sure it’s not just a good idea but a God idea. We stick with that idea until we get there. Eleven years ago we went on ABC in St Louis. We still have the same time slot that we had eleven years ago. What have you committed to in your family that you are sticking with? Was it a God idea?
Vision With Focus Equals Happiness
The Bible reads, without a vision the people perish (Proverbs 29:18). We have the vision, I say It, spray it, wheel it, deal it, and make you feel it, but we also have to have focus. Don’t take something for granted and allow all kinds of little slips that keep you from delivering in your organization or in leading your family’s vision.
