Have you ever been done wrong? Have you ever done someone else wrong? The Bible reads that the love of God draws all men to repentance (Romans 2:4). God’s been dealing with me about this. Getting mad and taking something out on others is not constructive, it’s not mature, and it’s not walking in love.

God Wants Us To Mature

I have discovered that when I am not walking in love, it’s often based on a wrong someone did to me years ago. It’s usually something I haven’t dealt with or gotten over. The thing is that if we are quick to forgive those who do us wrong, God will be quick to forgive us. And we will mature and be able to let go of things more quickly through practice.

How Often Do We Need To Forgive?

In Matthew 18:21, Peter thought he was generous offering to forgive someone seven times a day. So when asked how many times we should forgive, Jesus offered a number that is impossible to reach. Seventy times seven. Or 490 times a day (Matthew 18:22). Meaning, we are to forgive so often that we need to stop counting how many times we have forgiven someone.

Remember? No. Forget About It.

The enemy does all he can to remind us of those who have done us wrong. He KNOWS that if we are not walking in love (meaning we are resentful, bitter, etc.) and that we fail to receive forgiveness, healing, breakthroughs, or whatever God has for us.

Be Encouraged!

Lord, we are on board with your guidance to forgive 490 times a day (Matthew 18:22). We are choosing to be Christians who are serious about wanting our peace, our joy, and to walk in love. We WILL forgive, just as you have forgiven our sins, and we WILL forget, just as you have (Psalm 103:12). We’ll need help with this, possibly throughout each day, but we trust that you will walk it out in us because we are willing, and we want this. Amen!
