Is there a significant event that your whole life centers around? People would ask when I started the church and my answer used to be, “I started when my Dad died.” My daughter was born three weeks before my Dad died, so I could have chosen that positive event, but we tend to lean towards the negative. Does a negative event define your life?

The Lame Life

A guy named Mephibosheth who was from Lo-debar (which means parched pasture, no harvest), was dropped as a baby and it caused him to be lame for the rest of his life. He thought he needed to stay there with the lame people. And the lame people were saying, “Don’t leave, they might hurt you.” So, he was afraid of the next level.

The Lo-debar Mindset

Until we stop defining our life by that bad thing that happened, we’re going to stay in Lo-debar. The worst thing we can do is sit there and cry in our cool-aid about what did or did not happen. We need to say, “Oh my gosh, this is the greatest year of my life. I am alive. I breathed. I walked. I wrote my name. I brushed my teeth, and they are mine! I’ve been through some stuff, but I refuse to define my whole life by one thing.”

The Right Place At The Right Time

It’s a lot easier to be blessed, to make a difference, to discover your purpose, and to change your life when you are at the right place with the right people. So many people have stayed in the land of Lo-debar, hanging around other people with similar problems thinking it will never get better and it’s too late.

Be Encouraged

Lord, your kids have been dropped, disappointed, betrayed and sometimes all they can see is the hurt. I decree and declare that they are getting out of that Lo-debar thinking and they are choosing to focus on the good things that have happened to them. Lord, we know you have plans to prosper us, not to harm you, we trust in your plans to give us hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11) I call you blessed!
