There are people in the world who want to betray us. They are subtle. With some, it’s not intentional initially but occurs after they get off track. There are often signs and patterns that evolve. If we are open to seeing them and we ask the right questions, we can end that situation before we get too far down that road. But betrayal isn’t assigned to only one person and doesn’t stop with their departure from our life. We need to understand the real enemy.

Understanding Offense

In this war, the devil assigns evil spirits to people in our life to hurt us. Once a person is gone from our life, that evil spirit jumps to another person. The devil knows our potential for greatness and the more potential we have, the more he wants to stop us through the pain. Our reaction to pain is to withdraw, which makes us ineffective for God’s purposes, and the enemy wins.

It Is Not The Stranger, But The Person Close To Us Who Hurts Us The Most. (Psalms 55:12-13)

David was hurt because it was his son. Jesus was hurt because Judas was there doing everyday life with him. Strangers don’t know our heart, so it is easier to brush off an offense from them. The label of family or friend has an implied knowledge of our heart – so there is more sting to the offense. It feels more personal – even if what they say is not accurate. We stop bouncing back because we are angry at the wrong enemy.

Essential Truths To Cling To During Battle

The devil exists, and he wins when we don’t believe that.
We are not fighting against people but spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12).
Put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18)
No weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17)
We need to forgive others for God to forgive us (Matthew 6:14-15)
God wants to work things for good (Romans 8:28).
God wants to prosper us and for us to have a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
Amen!
