Most people would agree that they have a dream, but some may not. If not, look back to when you were 5 or 6 years old and think about what was in your heart back then. That is your dream. You think it’s not realistic? That’s perfect. God rocks unrealistic dreams by turning them into reality.

God Gave Joseph A Dream

As a young man, Joseph knew he was called to greatness. His family didn’t recognize his greatness (so they threw him into a pit and sold him as a slave – Genesis 37). Jesus experienced a similar situation where he couldn’t use his gifts in his hometown because they didn’t believe he was more than a carpenter (Matthew 13:54-58). If you’re feeling this way, hold onto the dream, you’re not alone.

The Dream Starts On The Inside

When I was 5 or 6 and playing Pac Man, I dreamed that the dots Pacman ate were people getting saved. Our dream is rooted deep inside of us to carry us through the divorce, the betrayal, and death of loved ones. It is a calling.

Our Dream Is Tied To Other People

Joseph had a lot thrown at him in life. After ten years, he was able to save his family and the kingdom from famine because he moved up from the pit, to the prison, to the palace (Gen 37,39-45). His faith and integrity helped him stay persistent through the resistance. Multitudes of people, including the family who did not believe in his greatness, were blessed by Joseph’s position of authority (Genesis 41:41 and 41:56).

Be Encouraged!

Lord, I decree and declare we each have a dream. You put the dream in us because you plan to bring it to pass. We don’t put all of our trust in one job or one person. We put our faith in you. We believe in ourselves because you believe in us. We like ourselves and love ourselves because you loved us first. We know that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and good things are in store for us! Amen.
