Our idea of commitment in the U.S. is not the same as in other parts of the world. Commitment is tough. We think we are committed but our idea of commitment in the U.S. tends to be trying to make it to church consistently, believing for our light bill to get paid, or for God to deal with the people who bad mouth us at work. On the other side of the world, Christians are being beheaded because they won’t renounce Christ. Those Christians know what it means to live the following words: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
It’s Brutiful: Beautiful And Brutal
In Daniel 3:4-30, three guys walked into a furnace. This is not the beginning of a bad joke, but an example of true commitment. We want God to come through BEFORE we get into the fire. They walked into the fire, with commitment, even though their hands were bound. Once in the fire they were free because the fire burned their ropes off AND in the fire was a fourth man. You see, sometimes God delivers us before the fire and sometimes he delivers us during the fire, but he’s ALWAYS in the fire with us.
Without faith it is impossible to please God… and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)
There’s Nothing Worse Than A Partial Commitment
Every dead possum was partially committed to the task at hand. Every time a deer stares into the headlights it dies. Deer have no excuse; they are FAST! All they have to do is KEEP GOING! But they stop due to partial commitment. They stop because they get double-minded. They get distracted and never reach their destination.
Be Encouraged!
Lord, we are doing all that we know to do, even though we may not be doing it right. We are making the necessary adjustments to show our dedication to you. Because faith pleases you, we have CONFIDENCE that you will move mountains on our behalf because you are dedicated to us. We’re in it for the long haul. Amen!
