There was a situation recently in a restaurant where my wife, Nicole, took too many vitamins at once and choked. She came through it ok, but it is a good example of why we need to be careful not to let the world choke out God in our life. We let our thoughts become so choked by CNN, Fox News, or CNBC that God’s word is the last thing that comes to mind.

Temporary Visitors

My family recently visited Germany. They are like their own Kingdom with their own money. If I bring their money back to the U.S. and try to use it, McDonald’s I going to say, “Uh, Sir, you’ll have to pay with U.S. currency.” You see, we have a king, and he has a kingdom. We are temporary visitors to the earth, just as I was a temporary visitor to Germany. We need to be programmed by the words from our kingdom more than the world’s kingdoms.

How Do We Get Kingdom Mentality?

Get plugged in. You can listen to me on podcast until you can’t stand my voice anymore. When that happens, you can switch to Joel Osteen or Joyce Meyer, but listen until you are overflowing with the word. Hearing the world and understanding it is how we overcome daily circumstances. We need to hear more about the word than we do about the world.

-I am an overcomer (1 John 5:5)

-Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4)

-My God shall supply all my needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19)

-God thinks good thoughts about me and wants me to have hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11)

Be Encouraged

Lord, we know who we are, we are Christians. We are going to stop being choked out and mad. We are filling ourselves with the word. We take authority over racism, over people abusing authority, over dishonor in ourselves, in our kids and in our communities. You said that whatever we ask the Father in the name of Jesus that you will do (John 14:13). Amen!
