Jesus said in Matthew 15:14 that, “If blind lead the blind, they both end up in the ditch.” God’s talking about teachers feeding people with the wrong information. It’s like having a bad Driver’s Ed instructor. If he’s teaching you erroneous information or he doesn’t know how to drive himself, he’s afraid of the power that’s under the hood or he simply concludes, “We don’t want to go too fast. You better stop. You know what? Forget it. Let me drive the car” then you’re never going to learn.
A number of preachers in the church over the years may have meant well, but I think “they see through a glass darkly” (1 Cor. 13:12). They’re moving slowly. They don’t believe that God could ever love them or certainly love you because, after all, “You’ve done a lot of bad things.” In fact, if you compare your life to their life, whoa! Why, there’s no way God would use you.
This kind of information has held more people back from their destiny than you could imagine because the blind leaders are leading the blind, and guess what? The car swerves off the road at a high rate of speed and the next thing you know, you’re in a ditch, the car’s damaged, the wheels are off and you can’t go anywhere.
I’m here to tell you that God wants to shift you into a new gear. Friends, the Lord is mad about you, not mad at you. And the best of your life is going to be the rest of your life. That’s a fact.
Isn’t it encouraging to hide the word of God in our hearts? Isn’t it refreshing to remember Jeremiah 29:11? “For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Don’t let any blind teachers lead you anywhere that is apart from God’s promises to you and for you.
