More than 800 years ago, they set out to build a BEAUTIFUL marble bell tower in Pisa, Italy.
But right from the start, they had major structural problems that only got WORSE!
The soft, sandy soil caused the tower to gradually SINK and LEAN, until now it’s more than 15 feet off-center.
Even the hefty 9 ft. limestone walls could not make up for the fact that it was all built on a shaky FOUNDATION.
Builder’s Choice
In building construction, the DEEPER and STRONGER the foundation, the higher the structure can be built.
The same principle applies to our SPIRITUAL life.
Jesus said, “Everybody who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise builder who built a house on bedrock.” Matthew 7:24 (CEB)
We can base our lives on the teachings of Jesus, the rock of ages, or rely on the shifting sands of the world. It’s our CHOICE.
Strength Tested
Jesus knew that you and I would have STRUGGLES that would shape us into the people we are today.
We can be thankful for the HARD times.
Whenever a stiff wind blows AGAINST us, it’s ultimately just TESTING the depth and strength of our foundation.
“The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” Matthew 7:25 (NIV)
Dig In!
Maybe you didn’t have the benefit of a strong foundation, growing up as a child…but that’s okay!
Embedding our families, our kids and our grandkids in a good CHURCH is a solid first step.
Dig in. It’s never too late to START OVER and build it RIGHT!
