In families, the type of thinking held by the parents is often passed down from generation to generation. People become a product of their environment. Until some of those individuals stop and think about what they are thinking about and choose differently.

My Dad And Grandpa Were In A Rut

My Grandpa was a teamster with the Union, and he went through the Great Depression, but we’re not sure he ever made it through. He continuously ran scenarios through his head of all of the things that MIGHT happen. My Dad was in the Army; he was in law enforcement, and he was a man of God. But he fell into the same rut by thinking things such as this is as far as we’ll ever go, and this is as great as we’ll ever be. It is a slippery slope, and their wheels slipped right into that rut.

The Rut Is Easy, It’s The Deep Stuff That Requires Risk

Deep-seated ruts are easy to fall into when we have an inner me and an enemy trying to get us to slide right back into them. Comfortable people aren’t risk-takers. They aren’t willing to go out where it’s deep and thick. They stay in the rut where it’s easy, and others have paved the way before them. Meanwhile, the real risk and reward is out in the deep and God is waiting to pull us out if we get stuck in a rut.

My Prayer For You

I decree and declare that each person reading this today will think about what they are thinking about and will use the winch of God’s saving grace to be pulled up out of their rut. They will start going out into the deep stuff and taking risk. We will align our thinking with God’s by reading his word daily.
Amen!

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. (Romans 12:2)
