We walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). When I was a boy, I had a dream for a bicycle. My Dad told me to pray about it and to describe it to God. In a short while, my Dad used his last $10 to buy me a rusty old green bike. He told me that it was the bike I prayed for (I didn’t agree.) Meanwhile, God was working behind-the-scenes.
Counterfeit vs. The Real Thing
My earthly Dad was trying to do what he thought was his part in my prayer but it wasn’t God. A while later, in another town, a man who had sold most of his things came to my Dad and gave us an orange bike with a banana seat and tassels on the handlebars exactly as I had prayed for. My Dad cried, knowing it was God. My heavenly Dad was at work behind-the-scenes even though my earthly Dad struggled to imagine it due to our day-to-day circumstances.
God Will Return What The Devil Stole (Deuteronomy 30:3)
When I was older, my Dad told me that they were struggling financially and he had sold my orange bike at a pawn shop. The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). Jump forward 20+ years. A pastor friend of mine decided to recreate my orange bike based on my description of it and to deliver it to me as a gift. Acts such as that are constant reminders of how God lovingly works through people to restore us.
Be Encouraged!
Lord, we stand firm on your promises, and we will pray and wait while you work behind-the-scenes. We stand expectantly with NOW FAITH (Hebrews 11:1) for the restoration of families, finances, health, jobs, businesses, and ministries. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). I call you blessed! Amen.
