Grace: Are You An Inside Or An Outsider?Have you ever driven by a Krispy Kreme just to get ONE donut, but your flesh voice on the inside yells, “I want MORE!” then your Spirit man says, “Don’t do it.” And your flesh argues, “Make it a baker’s dozen today!” This internal argument is something Paul talks about in the bible.

Wow they argued with themselves back in the “bible days” too???

“What I don’t understand about myself is that I decide one way, but then I act another, doing things I absolutely despise. So if I can’t be trusted to figure out what is best for myself and then do it, it becomes obvious that God’s command is necessary.

For if I know the law but still can’t keep it and if the power of sin within me keeps sabotaging my best intentions, I obviously need help.”Romans 7:17-20 (MSG)

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

What’s going on inside of us is God, what’s going on outside is our messed up flesh. THAT is why we cannot judge our position in Christ based on our external condition. Our condition on the outside can be wrong while our position on the inside is right.

Why? God works from the inside out.

He pours His love into us. We know we don’t deserve it. God immerses us in His love until it begins to spill out into our external condition. That is when others begin to see what God is slowly doing on the inside of us.

Hate the sin but love the sinner.

God doesn’t want us to “get right” and then get judgmental. He wants us to hate the sin, but LOVE THE SINNER. We can’t do that if we are busy judging others for their external conditions. We need to love them where they are – right now. We cannot base it on where WE think they should be, or based on how we think they need to be changing, but love them as they are in THIS moment.

Consider helping God instead of getting in His way.

I’d like to encourage you to think about the people all around you. Think about how you might naturally judge them by their actions. Then think about what God is trying to do on the inside of them. Give them a smile and give them a break. We can do for others what God has done for us.

We can give something positive and “undeserved” to someone “undeserving” today.
