Most mistakes I have made, have been while being in a rush, and allowing people or situations to pressure me into making a decision that did not have to be made that day.
Clarity comes with closeness to God
One of the ways to find out if this is the perfect will of God for you is to do what I call ‘wait for the weekend’. While we are waiting on God instead of being forced by man to make a decision, clarity comes with closeness to God and his anointing. The Bible says to be led forth with peace.
What this looks like in my world would be the need to hire a worship pastor for the church. Individuals in the organization are pressing me, saying we need to hurry up and get a person in place to fill this void. The temptation is tremendous to move too quick, to do the interviews and overlook the things that you have in your heart, instead of letting it play out over time and taking it slow.
So I might push back and spend time in prayer about this a few days, until I get greater clarity before even having the discussion with him or her. This time with God, allows Him the opportunity to speak to my heart.
The last thing you want is to bring the wrong people onto the team. They might begin to destroy the momentum and great staff you have already. Now you begin losing good people that were called to be on your team, because you hired someone that was never called to be on your team. This person might be great but they’re not great for your organization or your life.
Just because it’s good, doesn’t mean it’s God.
Don’t rush into something that’s not God. This works the same way when people are looking for a mate. More than one time we’ve all gotten excited about something that we feel is God but in reality it was something that we thought was God but it was actually a mistake.
The other night I heard this: “You can open the door by breaking it down, or you can find the key that opens it.”
The key that opens the door of opportunity for your ultimate success is hearing from God and acting on what you’ve heard.
