When we take a road trip, we are focused on the destination! We plan a vacation, we think about it, we dream about it and visualize what it will be like. The anticipation builds during the entire journey. Our excitement peaks, and then we ARRIVE!
Are we focused on all of the roads we DON’T want to go down?
Do we focus on everything that can go wrong between here and there? Do we lose our joy over a few delays that crop up on the journey? NO! We don’t focus on the obstacles, we plan routes around them. We don’t stop striving for our dream, we tackle it from a different direction. We are too excited to allow some minor inconveniences to steal our joy for our dream!
We need to focus on what we want!
We don’t focus on not eating donuts, but that picture on our phone of someone with six pack abs. We get what we focus on! Focus on the result of strong, defined abs, and say, “THAT’S WHAT I WANT!”
Put up a photo of that dream house and instead of saying, “I can’t go to the movies,” say, “I’m choosing the house instead of the movies!”
We need to laminate our goals.
I’d like to suggest that you do as I do and laminate your goals. We need to SEE our goals every day. It could be on the wall, on the fridge, on the bathroom mirror, on our desk at work, to remind us of our path, and to motivate us to make decisions that support our goal. Nicole did this with our marriage license just to make sure that I always remember I am married.
Give no energy to the past – focus on the dream!
Map out your desired, preferred, good, better, and best end result and then focus on God helping you live the life of your dreams.
Philippians 3:3 says, “Know dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I’m focusing all of my energies on this one thing, forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.”
Believe.
If you do not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you say will come to pass, it will be done for you. (Mark 11:23)
Imagine.
[God] is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, [through] his power at work in us. (Ephesians 3:20)
Let’s do this!
I promise you that you can do more than you ever thought possible and with God putting His breath on your life, the end of your life is going to better than the beginning. The latter is greater than the former. (Haggai 2:9) THE REST OF YOUR LIFE IS GOING TO BE THE BEST OF YOUR LIFE!
