Everything you’ve done up to this point, has been practice for your God given moment.
God Has Us In School
King David is one of the central themes I like to follow. Think about all of the practice that went on behind the trees, in the caves and in the fields BEFORE God set David in his place of power. Many times we don’t realize that God has us in school. It’s not just the school of “hard knocks” but learning that we “hit or miss” hearing from Him.
Do you remember when Samuel asked Jesse to line up all of his sons in the room because “from his seed would arise the next king of Israel?” According to the bible, Jesse had seven sons. Six of the sons lined up and the Prophet began to say, “It’s not this one, it’s not that one,“ finally, he says, “do you have any other sons?” Some might say it looks like Samuel missed God six times, but it’s the process of SEEKING that we see demonstrated here.
Sometimes when you are moving towards the perfect will of God, you’ll go through seasons of seeking.
You’ll know, “It’s not this and it’s not that” but in your spirit you’ll eventually hit it!
This Happened To Me
When we were starting our second campus in St. Louis. I knew that the Lord had clearly spoken to me, “Don’t wonder, don’t wait, for 2008 is going to be great!” My wife, Nicole, and I began to drive to hotel ballrooms and church auditoriums in that area, essentially doing what Jesse was doing saying, “It’s not this one, it’s not that one.”
We went from location to location with me saying, “Not this one.” And with Nicole getting frustrated at what appeared to be me being obstinate, but in each location I felt in my spirit, “Not this one.”
When we found our initial location for that campus, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt this was it!
I know the feeling that Jesse had that day when he first saw David.
The boy hadn’t yet been cleaned up for the presentation like the other boys, but he KNEW that this was the makings of a man of God. Just as I got so excited over this building because I knew it was ours!
It’s very important to find the place called “there” for you.
