Christians can’t be demon possessed, but they CAN be demon oppressed. When we put on a coat, and it just hangs on us, that is similar to what it is like to be demon oppressed. It weighs that person down in their vulnerable areas. The spirit of infirmity is in our mind, and we allow the negative voices to work their way into our heart.
The Devil Is Organized
In Mark 5:9, the demon calls himself legion which means organized, marching together to the beat of a drum. He even has reminders to tell him to send someone to annoy us at 4PM every day. He uses people under the influence and with a great strategy to jack up our lives.
The Bigger The Storm, The Bigger The Trial
If there were no Goliath, we would never be tested. When we take on new territory, all hell breaks loose. The enemy will keep us running around the mountain for 40 years in pain. Or he will try to get us comfortable where we are so that we want to please them. Who is them? Our congregation, our family, our friends, our customers. We get so comfortable pleasing that we grow unwilling to try anything new.
A Pastor In Ferguson Is Taking Territory
There is a pastor whose church building was destroyed, and his dog was poisoned. I told him that as awful as it is, it’s not about the dog, it’s about taking territory. The devil doesn’t want to give up or move out of the territory. There’s no negotiating; we have to put the devil on notice and tell him to GET OUT!
I Proclaim, “We’re Taking NEW TERRITORY!”
In the name of Jesus, I decree and declare that when the enemy comes at us with swords, we respond to him in the name of the Lord! I’m moving forward and possessing NEW TERRITORY!
