Wearing the armor of God is not about fashion, it’s about function. The Bible reads that we are to be strong in the Lord (Ephesians 6:10). When we are strong FOR the Lord, which is in our strength, we feel like we disappoint God when we stumble. We focus on how we miss the mark instead of focusing on Jesus. God knows the only way we can be strong is by putting on the full armor he directs us to wear each and every day. A few of the items mentioned in Ephesians 6:10-18 are listed below.

Helmet

To protect our mind from negative thoughts by thinking about the word. God knows the biggest battle we face today is the one going on in our mind.

Sword

God’s word is the sword of the Spirit. His word has an impact in the spiritual realm.
Shield – blocks the enemy’s darts and grows by hearing the word. For faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17). No weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Pray Always

We need to acknowledge God and have an ongoing conversation with him throughout our day. In all your ways, acknowledge him and he will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:6).

Function Over Fashion

Armor is for protection, not comfort or convenience. When we don’t use it, we grow vulnerable. Iron Man was just a man without his suit, but when he put it on, he was a warrior. When we wear God’s armor, WE are empowered by his might.

Lord, help us to get dressed in your armor every day. Therefore [we] take up the whole armor of God, that [we] may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Ephesians 6:13).
