Do you have any challenges being productive? There are times that I don’t think there are enough hours in a day. I have a feeling that it’s not the lack of hours but the struggle to stay focused and to say no.
In order for us to be successful, we need to protect our productivity time. We have to defend it like a determined soldier guarding his camp, schedule it and commit to it as if our life depends on it. Most of all we have to keep it simple.
The following are ways I defend my productivity:
– Turn off the phone (I mute it and put it away so I can’t see email or text notifications!)
– Don’t sacrifice productivity time for email time
– Find a quiet place
– Keep it simple, use a pad and pen, and scribble whatever drops into your mind
I find that my mind is best in the morning before the day’s demands fill my head. I have also noticed that my creativity is dumbed down by email first thing in the morning, so I wait to check email.
It’s not enough to be busy, we need to ask, what are we busy about?
And He said to them, “Why Did You Seek Me? Did You Not Know That I Must Be About My Father’s Business?” Luke 2:49
Even Jesus knew that he had to focus on the task at hand and not get sidetracked. The most basic form of human stupidity is to forget what we are trying to accomplish.
You’re successful because you PROTECT your productivity!
