What Does Your Name Mean?

God allowed a woman other than Moses’s mother to name him. The first woman didn’t name him, but the second woman did. This was because God wanted the influence in Moses’s life that would guide him towards his destiny. There are times that kids are named “You won’t succeed, you’re never going to make it, we don’t do that, or that’s not allowed in our family.” Our biological parents name us but sometimes God allows someone else into the equation.

Moses Means “To Draw Out”

The King’s daughter named him Moses, which means ‘to draw out’ because she had to draw him out of the river from a little basket. Moses was drawn out of his village, drawn out of the palace, drawn off of the mountain and drawn out of the wilderness. Life is a series of drawing out!

Something Happens When The Right Woman Names Us

I’ve thought about Nicole renaming me and what that has meant for my life. I got married the first time; it was puppy love and puppy love leads to a dog’s life. After eight years of marriage I was betrayed, divorce and hurt! And Nicole comes along and not only named me but claimed me!

She saw things in me that I saw but struggled to believe myself, and she reinforced what I already knew. She said, “Here’s what you’re going to be, there’s what you’re called to be and I don’t care if your momma left you, your daddy died, or about all this stuff that has happened to you. I’m here to tell you we’re going to make this happen!”

And she helped me and empowered me to be the best me possible, so if you don’t like me, talk to her!

Consider What Name You’ve Accepted Today

As you examine your own life today, think about the name or names you’ve accepted and lived under. Do they lift you up or hold you down? I call you blessed! Now you need to claim your own name today!
