When I was growing up, we lived in a little house in south county, Saint Louis. We were poor. Our bologna didn’t have a first name and we didn’t have Cheerios, we had O’s. Well, this kid named Johnny lived down the street. His Dad, who was welder, built Johnny a motorcycle. This motorcycle was primed and it was BAD! (In a good way.) So as you can see, I had a situation here where I was envious of someone.

I Gave New Meaning To The Phrase, “Off-The-Chain!”

While Johnny had this chopper, I only had a 10-speed bicycle. Well, actually it was a one speed because when I switched gears it would jump off the chain. So I guess I should have celebrated that I had a bike that was “Off-the-chain!”

In my envy of Johnny, I wanted a ride on his chopper, but he said I couldn’t handle it on my own. So I traded my Frogger video game for a ride with him, all the while thinking, “I’ll never have a bike like this.”

Everything Good Is Out In Our Future

Fast forward a couple of decades. I used to speak into a friend’s life who was growing a business. His Dad always verbally beat him down, so I would encourage my friend. Now, he has built up one of the largest powersports dealers selling more jet skis and scooters than most others in the U.S. He called me to show me a motorcycle he took in as a trade-in. It was all chromed out and the type of motorcycle many guys dream about. My friend said that because it meant so much to him that I had spoken into his life, he wanted to give it to me. (It’s possible that I shed a tear.)

Don’t Allow Envy To Invite Pride Which Makes Any Celebration Superficial

When I picked up that motorcycle, I wanted to take a picture and put it on Facebook so that Johnny could see it, er, what God has done in my life. No, wait, that’s pride, that’s the flesh. Just because Johnny got his early, didn’t mean I wasn’t going to get mine. And you’re going to get yours but you have to allow God to bring you full circle.

It’s Never Too Late To Celebrate!

God will bring this into manifestation in your life. The business you want to start? You say, “I’m 50.” Colonel Sanders didn’t start until he was 60. So you say, “But I’ve been married 3 times.” Guess what? The fourth time is a charm for you. You already know what doesn’t work, now go celebrate what does work. You have a chance to choose differently and raise those kids right. It’s never too late until you go to be with Jesus. So count your days and make your days count!

God Says He Knows The Plans He Has For You, Plans To Prosper You And Not To Harm You, Plans To Give You A Hope And A Future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

What are you hoping for today? Let’s celebrate that!
