Some people go through life wondering why nothing is changing. They can’t figure out why they aren’t having any success or why they keep failing at a particular activity. In order to experience change, we need to be AWARE of the need for change in our life. We cannot keep doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. We need to be aware of what makes us tick and what ticks us off. Our self-
control and self-discipline are important.

The Emotional Roller Coaster. (This Is Not Just For The Ladies.)

I get down at times, and my mind starts working against me. I might have a weak moment and eat a whole carton of ice cream and then go hide it at the bottom of the trash can so my wife, Nicole, doesn’t see it. And then I start hearing in my head, “Look at you. You’re a pastor! What if people could see you right now? What ARE you doing?”

I Know Myself

I can’t trust myself in certain situations when I’m feeling down. A good example of this in the bible was when Esau came home hungry from working in the field. Jacob was cooking stew and Esau was so exhausted and hungry that he was willing to sell his birthright for a bowl of soup. This is a significant example of why we should NOT make decisions when we are tired OR hungry. (It’s a good idea not to go grocery shopping when we are tired or hungry either!)

You Are Not Alone. Be Encouraged!

We all have our low points. The key is to be aware that you have low points. Know how you behave during those low points and limit yourself when that situation arises again so that you don’t repeat them. In order to behave differently, we have to be aware of the need for that change first. Let’s go through the next week staying aware of our behavior and choosing differently in order to get different results. Stay aware. Know yourself!
