God loves us. But the enemy and the inner-me try to talk us out of it by reminding us of how messed up we are and how many mistakes we’ve made. We look at our areas of opportunity and say, “You know what? God’s going to have to use another person because He can’t use me!” We disqualify ourselves, yet we weren’t qualified in the first place, it was God who qualified us.

In The Way…

When I was a kid I used to hear people say, “I’ve been in ‘The Way’ for 40 years.”

I would always think, “Yeah, you’ve been in the way all right. You need to get out of the way and let God do something in your life.”

There’s No Big Stick

Religion has painted God as this austere, mean, white-bearded guy with this big stick in His hand. And He’s waiting for us to mess up and when we do, He’s going to hit us over the head with it. Listen, if God wanted to get us, we would have already been gotten. But instead, God is motioning for us to come to Him and He’s saying, “Come here. I want to love you.” He says to boldly approach the throne of grace, but instead, we feel bad about our sin and walk away.

We Can’t Clean A Fish Before We Catch It

People can get prideful and arrogant about religion. It’s like carbon monoxide, it’s odorless, it’s not visible, but it gives us a headache and then it puts us to sleep and we die. Religion has kept people away from God for a long time and religious people have always tried to clean people before they catch them. We can’t clean a fish before we catch it.

We Are Fishers Of Men

We want you. I’d like to encourage you to ask Jesus to join you as you walk through your day. He’s always there waiting. He wants you as you are, right now and He’s listening.
