You can’t do everything and do the one thing that God calls you to do. I can’t do what I do and still proceed over every wedding and every funeral – although I wish I could. I can’t go to every wedding, bar mitzvah or BBQ I’m invited to. I have to say no to a lot of the things that I want to do and say yes to the things that God calls me to do.

Eliminate To Stay Focused

I have to concentrate and to do that I have to eliminate. We have to eliminate the things that don’t move us toward our vision or goal. What moves our family vision forward? Time together. But time with everyone else is something I have to consider carefully. We can love everything, but we can’t do everything.

Letting Go Prepares You To Receive

We have to let go of what we have to receive what God has for us. When we don’t choose to put God first, let go of the things that distract us and obey then we are putting those things before God. What’s the one thing that you’re doing that God told you not to do? What’s the last thing that he told you to do that you haven’t yet obeyed?

Be Encouraged

Eliminate the distractions. Concentrate on what God has called you to do. Let go of the things that pull you away from God instead of drawing you nearer to him. In Mark 10-17-22, Jesus tells a rich young ruler to sell everything and follow him. It has less to do with money and more to do with putting something before God.
