When we get married, we go through a sequence of events that lead us up to it. We spend our time getting to know that person. We LOOK for ways to spend time and to get to know them better. We spend our money because we love that person. We want what they want, and we will spend what it takes to make that happen. We may even use our talent to make them laugh so that we can win them over. It’s no different with God.
God’s Numerical Structure
God is into sequential things. He gave us a numbering system where if we can count to 10, we can count to one million. God wrote a book about numbers. And when it comes to sequence, he asks for the first of our time, he doesn’t demand it, but when we give it, the rest of our day becomes the best of our day. God asks for us to turn to him with our thoughts and decisions before turning to others. He asks for the first tenth of our money. We do these things with our spouse, why wouldn’t we do them with God?
Commitment
Giving God our firsts is not an obligation, it shows commitment. It also does things in a sequence that pleases God. When we pay bills first and him last, it doesn’t show commitment. When we enjoy our weekend activities and barely fit church in by running in late, we aren’t showing commitment. We don’t fit God into our schedule. We schedule our life around God. We don’t pencil him in; we ink him in. Do you put him first or is he just penciled in?
Cracking The Code Begins With Putting God First
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33
