The devil won’t tell us to go do pushups. In fact, he won’t nudge us to do things that might make us stronger, healthier or cause us to feel better about ourselves. If he does, then he does it in extremes so that we obsess over it and become unbalanced. No matter how it happens, he doesn’t encourage us to do things that are good for us, or that will draw us closer to God. If anything he wants to drive a wedge between us and God or to cause us to be so busy that we think we don’t have time for God.

The Fruitless Pursuit

God will nudge us to apologize even if we’re not wrong and he will nudge us to go put that grocery cart back. God nudges us towards honorable living. He will also nudge us to spend time with him. He will give us a longing inside that only he can fill. The devil will lie to us implying that he can offer all kinds of ways to fill that void, but it will remain a fruitless pursuit without God.

We Talk To Our Car, And We Talk To The Dog, So Why Can’t We Talk To God?

Why can’t we seem to talk to God at times? We talk to ourselves. We just hope that no one sees it. We say things like, “Why you start, stupid car?!!!” And then there are those of us who talk to our dogs. If we can do THAT, then maybe we can talk to God too!

Set A Date With God

Every day we need to have a date with God. We need to have chair time with Jesus. If you’re reading the Bible on your phone, just in case you get a text, it’s a distraction! Our families don’t appreciate when we do that at the dinner table. And God doesn’t appreciate it when we do that to him. So try muting the phone and leaving it in the other room and give God some focused time today and just have the conversation.
