Do you have a GPS? Many people have a GPS in their car, on their phone or on a wristwatch. GPS’s are everywhere. What do they do? Do they actually take us places? No, they give us directions where to go and it is our choice to follow the instructions. From time to time we need to plug our GPS in for a recharge and to download updated maps. Without updated information, the GPS might give us inaccurate directions.
Global Positioning Systems Use Satellites, God Positioning Systems Are From The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is our GPS. He regularly updates and resets our data card so that we are getting the most updated information. This includes when we are off track, going the wrong way, or haven’t prayed in a while. It’s our nature to want to do life our way. DON’T! Choose to do it the way the Holy Spirit advises.
We Have A Helper!
“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever– the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him, but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” (John 14:16)
We Can Feel Heat, But We Cannot See It, Likewise, We Cannot See The Holy Spirit, But We Can Hear His Whispers
Do you have our Holy Spirit subscription from heaven? He sends data from heaven that tells us what to do. With GPS’s, it used to be that we had to pay for the annual map update download. Now GPS’s are sold with lifetime map updates at no additional cost! Well, once we receive Jesus and the Holy Spirit lives in us, He gives us live updating information from minute to minute. The real question is: “Are we listening?”
We Can Know All Things Since We Have A Know-It-All Inside Of Us
The Bible says we will know truth. In 1 John 2:20 it says, “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.” This means that we have a know-it-all inside of us that is the Holy Spirit. If we pray AND listen, He will offer guidance. He’s always talking we just might have too much busyness, noise, other voices, or inputs occurring to hear Him clearly.
The Holy Spirit Is Our Navigator! Are We Listening And Acting On The Knowledge?
He will tell us to take a different route to work so that we avoid a traffic jam and aren’t inconvenienced.
He will tell us what to eat and when to exercise.
He will tell us to go apologize for using a sharp tone of voice with someone two minutes ago.
He will tell us to stop and go spend some time in the Bible reading the Word and being open to what God wants to share with us.
He will tell us to stop and go to bed and get some sleep.
He will guide us in all areas of our life, but they are whispers. Be still and listen. He’s always talking.
