crossed the lineHave you ever driven on a road that has a faded center line? You begin to wonder where your lane in the road is as the line gets so faded, it begins to disappear.

Then you turn onto a road where the lines are freshly painted and it becomes very obvious where your lane in the road is… the boundary is CLEAR.

Sometimes we find ourselves in situations where we are trying to create boundaries for people but they won’t take the hint. A scenario like that is a lot like driving on a road with a faded center line. It’s not clear where the boundary is drawn.

As a leader, business person, or parent, it’s very necessary to give clear instructions and set distinct boundaries in order to promote longevity and peace.

It’s more unfair to your team to leave the boundaries unclear, than it is to do the right thing and draw a clear line.

Sometimes we need to sit down and take time to get clarity on the situation because confrontation is definitely something FEW people enjoy. Yet it is something we will face over and over, it’s NOT a one-time thing.

Fortunately the bible has some advice for us:

The wise in heart are called discerning, and gracious words promote instruction. Proverbs 16:21

So set those boundaries and help everyone on your team to understand where their lane in the road lies. This will help them to be more effective in their initiative, creativity, and driving forward with the vision!
