If God Wanted Perfect, I Wouldn’t Be Your Pastor

God is NOT looking for perfection, but a heart that is repentant or apologetic towards him. God knows that we are trying to walk in the spirit but keep falling in the flesh. God has been here, He’s walked in our shoes, He gets it. He is encouraging us to walk in the light MORE than we have previously. We begin that process by NOT convincing ourselves that we are, when we aren’t.

God And The Fine Print

God is saying He wants to bless us and do something radical for us! Are you like I am when software updates come and we just press agree, agree, agree? We go to church and sing songs about forgiveness and surrender. We sing about loving God but then have a low tolerance for others. We don’t act in a loving way, and are too busy setting our own agenda for God’s will to play out. There’s one catch, God is Light and in Him there is no darkness at all, that’s the fine print. When we are self-centered, God is not in it. When we focus on and let God in, the focus is off of us and on God. Then it’s all about Him.

So We Don’t Know Much About God’s Word? We Work With What We Do Know

We need to walk in the light that we know. Everyone feels like they don’t know enough about the bible at one point or another. But we read the bible and God tells us things. He gives us suggestions and mandates. When we walk in that light we are walking in the spirit. Walking in the light is being full of God because we spend time with Him. It’s being obedient when He nudges us inside to do something. It’s being tight with God. When we do this, there is a higher degree of confidence in asking the Father for what we need.

What We Hang On To, We Lose. What We Surrender Is Returned To Us

What are you hanging onto? Our life is reflected in where we spend our time, talent and treasure. We hang on to this little life that we have, this little $10, let it go! There’s nothing special about us except the special One who is inside of us. Yes, the One who is calling us up to a new glory, to a new level of living in His Light.

Light Cannot Be Contained, But It Affects Everything Around It

If we step into the sun, we get a sun tan. When we spend time with the Son, we get filled with His love by default. Spending time in the Light grows the light within us and influences all areas of our life. Is your light barely lit as a pilot light, a solid flame, or a bonfire? Time with God directly influences your light. I encourage you to ask God to give you a hunger for Him today.
