When I sit and think about what my dad did for me, I am overwhelmed with feelings of gratitude. My dad did the hard thing early on so that he could make my life easier. So often in our ministry, I don’t have to ask for money because my dad did strategic planning by teaching me to get out of debt. My dad didn’t leave me a million dollars. He left me a root (you could also translate that to route).

Map It Out For Your Kids

By leaving me the root, I was able to reproduce the fruit. And by leaving me a route I could map a path to fruitfulness and I could choose to do it or not. It wasn’t handed to me. The most incredible education you can give to your kids is not at Harvard, Princeton, or Purdue but starts at home. Watching you strategically march yourself and your family out of the slavery of debt to financial freedom is an investment in them AND their future decision-making.

You. Aren’t. Normal.

In a crowd-full of debt-ridden people, only a few are going to have the discipline and tenacity to step out, slay the giant, and get debt free. The rest are just going to keep doing what they rest of the crowd is doing because that’s normal. YOU. AREN’T. NORMAL.

Be Encouraged!

If we stop falling into the consuming trap, we will get free from the debt prison. Remember economic downturns are opportunities for those who are debt-free and have money saved up. Let’s make sure we are leaving a heritage our kids can run with. I call you blessed!
