I can’t imagine hearing the devastating words, “You have brain cancer.”

Recently a dear friend of mine heard these words. I’ve spent an enormous amount of time with he and his family over the past few weeks praying, crying with, and just loving on the family.

My friend said, “One of the worst things is in the middle of the night when I lay in bed tossing and turning with the lights off and the covers over my head… The thoughts that flood my mind are of how I am about to die and leave my family behind.”

The only thing I have been able to do is pray the prayer of faith over my dear friend, and encourage him each and every day.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

One of the statements that has brought him great peace is something the Lord gave me years ago:

“What’s worse than cancer of the brain?

Cancer of the mind!”

If you have someone you love who is dealing with a debilitating disease today, begin to help comfort them by encouraging them to keep their eyes on the promise NOT the problem. God can do miracles!
