I mentioned a situation in yesterday’s blog about a contractor where I was trying to play God, so God taught me a lesson in humility. But there is more; I didn’t share everything in that blog. I thought about that situation for another five hours that day. I thought I bet when I pay him the full amount instead of monthly payments, he’s going to think that I went home and talked to Nicole and that she’s the boss of me! He’s going to think she MADE me pay. (Am I the only one with these problems?)

Why Do We Care What They Think?

Hey, I can’t be having him think my woman tells me what to do. I’m a MAN. I run things around MY house… the vacuum cleaner, the dishwasher and my mouth. Therefore humble (lower yourself in your own estimation) under the mighty hand of God so that he may exalt you (1 Peter 5:6). Forgiveness requires humility.

Forgiveness Is An Opportunity, Not An Obligation

I wasn’t going to get ahead by making the guy pay, in God’s system the only way to get ahead is to forgive. If anything, this scenario worked out as a great illustration to help you realize that you’ve got to forgive people. And God just nudged me on the inside and corrected me that I GET to forgive people. We don’t HAVE to forgive we have the opportunity to forgive.

Be Encouraged!

The missing puzzle piece is that we need to cast our care and stop being stressed out. We need to stop waiting for God to humble us. We need to demote ourselves, choose to forgive, and stop trying to make people pay. God didn’t make us pay. If he can forgive us the big debt, then we can forgive the small debt and let it go. Amen!
