My Dad and his Dad had the poverty mindset mentality. I grew up so poor that we had Hamburger Helper minus the hamburger. We weren’t poor; we were po’. I got family hand-me-downs, I didn’t get new clothes. We shopped at garage sales when we had a few dollars. As I grew up that pattern and way of thinking was ingrained in me. It had always been that way. Why would it change? God can change it immediately.

Think Bigger

God needed me to think bigger, so he gave me a lesson. You see a mind stretched will never return to its original shape and God needed me to stop thinking poor. God needed me to stretch my capacity for believing and for receiving.

It Wasn’t About Cost; It Was About Believing And Receiving

I needed a shirt, so I went to the store and went straight to the clearance and sales rack, but I didn’t see anything I liked. God nudged me inside saying, “Don’t buy something you don’t want just because it’s on sale, if you have the money, do it.” I thought that’s so nice of God. This wasn’t about buying a $20 shirt I WOULD wear vs. a $10 shirt I wouldn’t and it wasn’t about cost. It was about stretching my mind and believing God.

You Shall Know The Truth, And The Truth Shall Set You Free

The Bible reads, as a man thinketh, so is he (Proverbs 23:7). If we think broke we can’t be successful. We need to purposefully be around people who will stretch our capacity for believing so it will stretch our capacity for receiving. Say this with me: I’ll never be broke another day. I’m going to break my patterns of broke thinking. I’m going to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Amen!
