I love my wife, but I can’t pay someone to tell my wife that I love her. I can’t send someone in my place. She doesn’t want that. She doesn’t want to receive from me through a secondary source. That’s like asking your Mom to cook your favorite dish and her ordering it from a restaurant and having someone deliver it to you. You want it from HER. Moms have that special touch that makes the difference. God feels the same way when it comes to us praising him.

Worship Teams Do A Great Job, But They Don’t Replace Us

“I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.” (Acts 13:22) From childhood until he was a man in a seat of power, King David praised God. He never assigned it to someone else. Likewise, when we are in church, it might be new and different to us but we need to participate. Sing, clap, or wave our hands. Whatever we do, we cannot check out. (How do we feel when others do that to us?)

It Feels Good To Be Praised

We feel good when someone speaks positively of our character or integrity. It builds us up when they are complimentary of our work ethic, our behavior, or the things we’ve created, such as a home and family. God likes that too. He deserves the praise, and he loves a thankful heart.

Be Encouraged And Get Your praise On!

Lord, we will be like David, not necessarily praising till our clothes fall off, but undeniably humbling ourselves in our sight and holding YOU in honor (2 Samuel 6:14-22). We will drop our pride, we will remember how we feel when we receive praise and will return that praise to you. We give YOU the glory, Lord, for it begins and ends with you. Amen!
